This double CD - featuring live performances recorded a decade apart - showcases pianist Steve Sedergreen and saxophonist brother Mal, and the ever-evolving Mistaken Identity. Avalanche (CD1 from 2009) features the current line-up (Ted Vining, drums; Nick Haywood, acoustic bass) improvising on original compositions and songs by Lennon/McCartney, Sting and a Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder co-write. Evolution (1998) with Matt Clohesy (bass), Danny Fischer (drums) and Toby Mak (trumpet) has a different feel; the songs are originals. This music is accessible and melodic.
